RackStation puts the same DSM platform into 1U and 2U chassis built for the rack: hot-swap bays, redundant power supply options and PCIe slots for 10 and 25GbE. The RP models add a second power supply for sites that cannot stop.

RackStation tiers

RS+ models (RS422+, RS826+, RS1226+) are 1U and 2U units for branch offices and small businesses. RP adds a second hot-swap power supply. xs+ (RS1626xs+, RS2423+, RS3621xs+) are the performance tier with Xeon or Ryzen Embedded CPUs, ECC memory and PCIe slots for 10 and 25GbE. The RS4021xs+ and above are for petabyte-scale backup and virtualisation.

What else you will need

Rail kits are sold separately and are specific to each chassis depth; the matching kit is listed on every RackStation page. Add an RX or RXD expansion unit when the bays run out, and consider a redundant power supply model for any site where a power supply failure would mean a site visit.
